Outgoings
With the glorious influx of mail as a result of my attendance at Ex Postal Facto, I have been busy replying and have not spent much time documenting what has come in my mailbox.
Here's a few Outgoings while I get my Incomings sorted.

Outgoing: First Collage in 2014
My first collage of 2014! It is small-scale (about 5" x 6.5") but it took me about 4 evenings at the desk to complete. I always know a collage is going to be good when it takes me forever to get it just right. When I layout the pieces, rearrange, step away, come back the next day, move more around, commit to glue, scan, send!
I created this piece especially for Art via Post's mail art call. If it wasn't customized just for Art via Post, I might've actually held on to this one. :) But, it is in the letting go that we make room for more.

Outgoing: Le Labyrinthe
I participated in the Lettres et Images last call for Gothic mail art. This one calls for a Labyrinth theme. I made something a little outside of my normal collage. Never hurts to stretch outside of your normal creative comfort zone.

Outgoing: The Transformative Vision
Outgoing postcard to the mail art call: The Transformative Vision
I printed a batch of these postcards with this image I snapped in the Keys.
Driftwood in the sand that looked mysteriously like a seahorse. I inverted the colors so it looked like a seahorse in space. :) Thought this image was super appropriate for the "Transformative" mail art call.
"A house becomes a face, a picture of a cheesy pizza becomes a cloud, a cloud becomes a dragon."

Outgoing: Mail Art Postcard
Above is my entry to the mail art call, This is Where I Go, from Laura Bucci.
I made a digital square quilt out of my New England pictures from my last trip to visit family. My Pep (grandfather) passed away last week, so this is in homage to him.
He built the house in the right-hand corner on the top of his mountain in Greenfield, New Hampshire. The upper right-hand corner is the view from his front yard.
As a child, it was my favorite, most magical place to visit. This is where I go in my head when I need a retreat. Also included are pics of my Mem's garden, another of my top fave places to be.
There are pics of Boston, Winthrop, and Lowell, too.

Incoming: Postal ATC Trade
Incoming from Pamela @ Cappuccino and Art Journal
This came through the mail last week. Just now getting around to posting it. :)
Inspires me to get going on my submission for the Keep the Post Office Public! Mail art call over at Cascadia Artpost. September 30th deadline, so I should have plenty of time. Long Live the USPS!

Mail Art Call: Paths of Water
Incoming yesterday from a fellow Brain Cell contributor, Antonia.
I smiled at the envie with it's upside-down picturesque picnic table scene. She included a call for the mail art project: Paths of Water.
Thank you, Antonia - I will send some water mail art your way!

Outgoing: Bosch Mail Art Call
I previously posted about working on the collage for my entry to the Bosch mail art call and how it was creeping me out. Well, I finally finished it and it will be mailed out this weekend. I'm happy with how it turned out and happy to be sending it far, far away...

Bosch is creeping me out
Reading Heebee's post today re: the Museums of Instant Image's Bosch mail art call reminded me that I have a pic to share of my collage in process for this particular call. I stopped messing with the collage for a little while. It now has a lot more detail than what is shown below. But, I found I had to take a break from working on it. My collages are creative vision work boards for me. Usually what I focus the collage on comes to fruition. And this collage was just plain freaking me out.
I like how it's evolving, and I think it matches Bosch's vision(s), but I needed to step away from it before continuing...

Outgoing
I've held on to the postcard above for a while now. When I came across Val Herman's Phone Box mail art call, I thought it was a perfect fit. Thinking about how my daughter would have no clue what half of the stuff is on here, I added "the kids say "What?!?" and added a few more comments from there. Even the telephone is a foreign image to her, as represented here. She only video calls her friends.
I also found it interesting that this postcard is a reproduction of an "Indian Educational Chart". Produced when??
And below is an outgoing to BrainCell. It's currently at No. 857. So, I'll likely miss out on No. 858. My next goal will be No. 868 and then (crossing my fingers) I can align the timing to make it onto No. 888 (my current Mail Art goal). I think I'll create a special artistamp for that issue in hopes of upping my odds.
